Name: Remus Lupin
Canon: Harry Potter
Canon Point: After his son Teddy's birth, but before the Battle of Hogwarts (late April 1998)
Age: 38
Spoken language(s): English

To the Mods: As discussed with the mods on plurk, Remus is a werewolf and, given the circumstances, will be bringing that up upon arrival because he's literally unable to keep silent during his transformations, in addition to being a bloodthirsty monster eager to hunt down any nearby humans. On full moon nights, he'll be using the soundproof cave to transform, and he'll need his wand at that time in order to put up magical wards necessary to keep his wolf form from getting out and going on a very loud murder spree, as well as making sure no one tries to come in. I'm fine with him not having his wand until the first full moon, to help keep him on a more even footing initially, or if the mods would like to come up with a different solution, that's fine too.
History: Wiki link
Personality:
Remus is clever, kind, and forgiving to a fault. He has a gentle and unobtrusive air about him, wears soft, worn cardigans, and has a book on his person more often than not. Despite towering over most witches and wizards, and the clawed scars marring his face and neck, he just does not look or act like a dangerous man. But he knows he is one, that his condition makes him a danger to others, no matter his precautions. Remus' entire life is defined by his lycanthropy, and he knows it.
Friendly with a somewhat dry sense of humor, Remus likes to be liked, but with his status as a werewolf having been public for a few years now, he's had to get used to open disgust with his very existence. Even those who claim to sympathize with werewolves often offer little more than pity. Remus approaches both of these situations the same way; he keeps his cool and as much dignity as he can muster, and disengages as soon and as politely as he can manage. He doesn't have the time or energy to fight every bigot or correct every well-meaning but wrong-minded sympathizer. It grates on him, of course, but he buries it down deep, because to do otherwise would mean they've won, and his Gryffindor pride won't allow them that satisfaction.
For someone who has spent many mornings requiring help after waking up naked and injured on the floor of some dismal place, Remus has a lot of pride. Money is a very contentious point for him, and the subject most likely to drain his absolutely massive amounts of patience. Contradictorily, Remus is quick to offer help to others, and will often go out of his way to do so. He always roots for the underdog and is very observant about the well-being and emotions of those around him, even if he doesn't always know what to say or do about his observations. He's the sort of person that would give you his very last Knut if he thought you needed it more than he did, and anyone suffering through the same sort of troubles he's had catches his attention almost immediately.
By all counts, Remus doesn't have much, but what he does have is more precious to him than anything in the world. His education, his family, and his friends have always been his topmost priorities other than simple survival. It's his greatest strength and his greatest weakness, as many of his regrets are tied up in all that he allowed his friends to get away with, simply for the sake of not risking losing their friendship.
He is a very private person, and often keeps his true thoughts and emotions close to his chest. He's not one to share his suffering with others, especially if he believes it will inconvenience them in any way. This has been taken to self-destructive extremes in the past, to the point of him abandoning his pregnant wife because he honestly believed she and their child would have better lives without him around. He was also terrified of the possibility he'd passed on his condition to his own child. Fortunately he had his head set straight, and as soon as Teddy was born, showed himself to be the incredibly devoted and adoring father that his nurturing nature would suggest.

Abilities/Skills:
- Magic
- Defense Against the Dark Arts: offensive and defensive magic. Remus' specialty. He is an excellent duelist.
- Charms: spells that "add certain properties to an object or creature"
- Transfiguration: spells that "alter the form or appearance of an object", also includes conjuring and vanishing objects
- Non-verbal/Wandless magic: notoriously difficult skills that Remus displays numerous times in the series, occasionally simultaneously
- Healing magic: necessary when you're a werewolf and twice-over member of an underground resistance force. He's good with the magical version of field medicine but he's no trained Healer.
- Werewolf stuff
- Turns into a big furry blood-thirsty monster on full moon nights
- (Headcanon) Increased senses of smell and hearing starting a few days before the full moon - this also comes with negative side-effects like headaches and nausea
- (Headcanon) Surprisingly quick reflexes and slightly increased strength. Nothing ridiculous, nor something he actively works at, just enough to give him a small edge over others who also do not work at those skills. Mostly, he's just tougher than he looks
- Other
- Teaching: Remus is very often considered the best DADA professor in the entire series, and not just because most of the competition sucks at it. He's genuinely a really good teacher.
